Who am I?

Hi there, I'm Tia, a Melbourne based lapidarist since 2016 and the creator of Pebble Sprout.

When I began my cutting journey, I enjoyed entering local and national faceting competitions, winning either first, second of third place in every competition entered. My personal best placement was in the 56th National Gemboree, where one of my stones was placed first in the Open section, and another second, in 2020.

These experiences taught me how to cut and polish stones with accuracy and precision, something which is lacking in many commercially cut gemstones. I have since stepped away from competition cutting, but the precision and methodology used in cutting those stones has very much stayed with me.

Each individual piece of rough is personally selected with care and studied to best determine the ideal shape and orientation to bring out the very best aspect of the gem which has been waiting in the earth for millions of years.
