Lighting

A little note on lighting and gemstones.

All of my gems have been photographed outside in diffused lighting, which is where I find many gemstones look their best.

It is important to note that the gems have been cut to reflect light, and it is not advisable to assume that a stone will look the same in all situations. In a lower light environment a stone will generally appear darker. More light doesn't always mean more brilliance or that the stone will appear brighter. This will differ for various materials. Many Australian sapphires will not appear their best under full sunlight, whilst Zircons will show an incredible amount of brilliance and scintillation under sunlight.

This is just a small reminder to please be aware that your gemstone will not always look the same in every environment you put it in.
